Iga Swiatek eyes return to world number one spot

Porsche Tennis Grand Prix champion sets her sights on WTA top ranking

Swiatek successfully defended her Stuttgart title for the second time, setting her up for a potential return to the top of the world rankings.

Iga Swiatek has her sights set on reclaiming the world number one ranking after successfully defending her Stuttgart title for the second time. The Polish star put in a dominant performance at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, winning the tournament without dropping a set.

Swiatek's victory in Stuttgart marked her fourth WTA title of the year, adding to her wins at the Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters, and Miami Open. The 20-year-old is now just 170 points behind current world number one Ashleigh Barty, who is taking a break from tennis.

Swiatek will have the opportunity to close the gap on Barty at the upcoming WTA 1000 event in Madrid. The tournament begins on May 2, and Swiatek is the top seed. If she can win the title in Madrid, she will move into the world number one ranking for the second time in her career.
